Honestly, I don’t understand this at all and I will never understand this. The amount of hurt I feel just by looking at this photo just phantoms me, because what is this girl really thinking when she put on these shorts? That’s my deity, the One I take refugee when I’m experiencing sorrow in my life. He is my all, my everything and you have put him on your body? Not only that, you’re probably unclean, and very dirty and probably were even before you put the shorts onto your body. You do not wear Him, you do not eat meat when you’re wearing Him. You do not touch Him when you’re dirty. The person who’s even wearing the shorts is not Hindu, and I know this for a fact. No Hindu would ever wear this, ever. We don’t even wear Him when we worship at His alter. If Hindu’s, the followers, the believers of the faith, reject what you’re doing, why is an unbeliever doing this? Because it’s ‘trendy’? Because it’s ‘different’? That is my God. That is my religion. That is my faith. You’re not ‘cool’ or fucking ‘unique’ , you’re a fucking ignorant asshole.

^^^ Not Hindu but I had to reblog for this.

Not hindu either, but things like these frustrate me. Anyway, wandered over to the original source and look what I found. Some nice anon was kind enough to leave a direct message saying “ok you know the picture you posted with the girl wearing the elephant shorts? well that’s actually a hindu god, one of the most worshipped. the fact that you posted that is highly offensive, first of all, because no one knows what the fuck it really it. no one should dare wear the god as shorts, it’s highly disrespectful. please do your research before you post such things.”
The reply to that was “yes i know im not an idiot thanks and i dont think its disrespectful”

I didn’t realize it was up to them to decide what is and is not disrespectful to people of the religion they’re appropriating.
THEY’RE SAYING IT’S DISRESPECTFUL. EVEN IF THEY WEREN’T, COMMON SENSE SAYS IT’S DISRESPECTFUL TO TREAT SOMETHING RELIGIOUS LIKE THAT. OR DOES THAT NOT ENTER PEOPLE’S MINDS.
Can you hear me when I scream, or would people like for me to scream louder?

reblogging again because there’s an even deeper issue i didn’t think to address before: who are the companies that MAKE these kinds of clothes in the first place? THOSE are the people we should be speaking out against, with petitions, boycotts, whatever it takes.

This is stupid. Not hipster.

Yeah, no one produces these. This girl made them herself. It doesn’t look like anyone has tried to educate her about how gross that is but I’m not up to trying and anyway I’m not Hindu so.

I’m not trying to be ignorant. I would like to open up a respectful discussion about this so I can learn to understand where you guys are coming from.
I do not personally see an issue with this. While her god is very personal and promient and sacred to her, her god is not everyone’s God. I feel like if this were a pair of shorts with the face of Jesus on them, and a Christian were crying sacrilege, rebloggers would have a very different tone. The artwork of this god is very beautiful and that was was perhaps the reason the image was chosen.
I understand the rage at the user who made the shorts (because she is an outright ass) but I don’t fully understand the disapproval of the shorts as a whole. When I read the Hindu’s response to the shorts, what I filtered out was her saying, “This woman is not respecting my God the way I would.”
But I don’t respect any Gods the way their worshippers would, because I am not religious.
So, open up a discussion. I still do not really understand why it is not okay for someone to wear shorts with the depiction of a god?

Oh god oh god

I’m looking at old pictures and new pictures and when I was 145lbs, my face was, like, normal shaped but whenever I gained weight my face and cheeks and chin got fatter but my forehead and eyes look the same and now my face looks like a WEIRD PEAR. And I didn’t even notice it until I saw current pictures next to old pictures.

It’s so weird holy shit!!!

Hahahahahahhaha oh my gosh hahahaha
